1987-1989 - worked in Kemerovo Regional Committee of CPSU and in the regional Executive Committee. 1989-1997 - Director of Kemerovo chemical engineering plant, Director General of CJSC Khimtekhmash, Kemerovo.

1997-1999 - Deputy Head and later Head of Main Industry Department of Kemerovo Oblast Administration. 1999-2000 - External Manager, 2000-2001 - Director General of OJSC Azot, Kemerovo.
Since February 2001 - Head of Directorate, since April 2001 - External Manager of OJSC TNKhK (Tomsk Petrochemical Plant) and Head of Directorate of OJSC TNKhZ.

2001-2003 - deputy of the State Duma of Tomsk Oblast of the III convocation in Michurinsky Election District.

2004-2007 - Deputy of the State Duma of the RF Federal Assembly of the IV convocation.

On December 2, 2007 elected Deputy of the State Duma of the RF Federal Assembly of the V convocation from Edinaya Rossiya (Unified Russia) federal party list.
